He is Singing

Consider Zephaniah 3:17.

“The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Do you ever think about what joy our heavenly Father takes in each one of us?  How very special we are to Him?  This verse reminds me of a mother with her infant.   To a mother there is nothing going on in the world that does not involve her baby.  She gazes in awe and wonder and is amazed at everything about her child.  She soothes him with rocking, singing,  humming, and the protection of her embrace.  She speaks softly or maybe not even at all.  Her contentment is just being able to gaze upon, hold, or feed this precious life.    She is so overwhelmed with feelings of love that she sings and rejoices over her baby.   When my son Jordan was a baby, I made up a lullaby for him.  It was real simple, just “Mama loves her baby, baby boy.  Mama loves her baby, baby boy.”  Then as he got older I added other verses like “Mama loves her baseball, baseball player, Mama loves her baseball, baseball player.”  It worked with whatever sports interest he had at the time.

Zephaniah shows that God feels the same about each of us.  He is thrilled with our presence and waits with great wonder to see how His precious children will grow and develop.  He is so excited about us that he bursts forth in song about us.   Imagine that—God sings because He is happy about us!!  Do you wonder what song He is singing over you today?

About encouragingservants

I worked at Women's Hope Medical Clinic, which is the pregnancy resource center, in Auburn, AL, as the Client Services Director from May 2009 until September 2013. I recruited, trained and encouraged volunteers who served at Women's Hope. From the beginning, I had sent out a monthly newsletter that offered words of encouragement to those who serve. I hope you enjoy my ramblings and are either encouraged in where you are serving or that you are encouraged to find a place to serve. I am also married to Dr. Michael J. Bozack, professor of Physics at Auburn University and author of "Street-Smart Advice for the Christian College Student." I have one son, Jordan Reyes, who is a college student.

  1. Fantastic devotional thought. Love the personal touch with your story about Jordan, and the emphasis upon Scriptural truth. Great job with this 🙂
